Eindhoven is and will remain the airport for the daily supply of employees from Eastern European countries. In these times and the necessary attention for one and a half meters of society, this is just about the last thing that focuses on. Migrant workers are more often infected with corona. Temporary employment agencies do not take the RIVM regulations so closely and let sick employees continue to work.

During the corona crisis, there is sufficient reason to pay attention to the way temporary employment agencies deal with their temporary workers. The risk of infection is greatest for them. It already starts upon arrival at Eindhoven Airport. Of the 35 migrant workers who arrived, only 5 wear their mouth caps. In a large group, they stand side by side listening to the briefing just before they board the Polish MEGATON taxi vans to be transported. Overcrowded vans without RIVM rules that are observed by the driver while our taxi sector is burdened by heavy regulations.

There is absolutely no question of compliance with the RIVM rules and enforcement by BOAs or the Marechaussee is not an option. Enforcers are too busy fining incorrectly parked cars. It is essential that everyone takes responsibility to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) as much as possible. Employers have a duty and special responsibility to limit the risks to their employees. The same goes for employment agencies.

According to the ABU (Algemene Bond Uitzendondernemen), the measures taken are in line with COVID-19 protocols of the clients, any sector-wide guidelines and with RIVM guidelines. This ensures that employees keep a minimum distance of 1,5 meters. Yet today there was little to notice at the airport. Perhaps it is important that there is a mandatory test street so that testing is done daily when the temporary workers arrive.

It is of general importance that the advice of the RIVM is followed to prevent the further spread of the corona virus. On the basis of the Working Conditions Act, the employer is responsible for preventing or limiting the risks involved in the work and to intervene when necessary. If the employer does not take the necessary precautions, the employee, works council, staff representation or union can report this to the Inspectorate SZW. If the SZW Inspectorate receives reports, it will be examined on a case-by-case basis what can be done with the report.
