The Mobility for Everyone Foundation, in collaboration with various partners (including Muntstad, Tribus, Pon Automotive and Volkswagen Bedrijfswagen), has developed the first electric care bus that is suitable for care transport. This is a first and major step towards making healthcare transport more sustainable.

The first care bus will be put into use on Friday 25 September. It is the kick-off of an 'electric campaign' from Mobilitei Foundationt for everyone to make healthcare transport more sustainable. The first model is taken into use at King Arthur Group in Bilthoven. The campaign is thus officially started.

In total, the foundation is making a start with 70 buses throughout the Netherlands. The buses will run for healthcare institutions that have a transport problem. Partly because of this transport, thousands of care-dependent people can get out again. People who experience a lack of mobility without this transport and therefore often have to deal with loneliness.

A lack of mobility directly leads to loneliness. More than one million Dutch people feel lonely every day. The Mobility for Everyone Foundation makes the connection between a lack of mobility and loneliness. Loneliness makes people feel disconnected, lack a close social bond and have less contact with others if they wish. The MVI Foundation is based on the point of view: no one should experience loneliness due to a lack of mobility. Hence our name: 'Mobility for everyone'.

In addition to its mission to combat loneliness, the MVI Foundation also wants to work towards a clean future. Partly because of this, the deployment of the 70 clean, electric buses is an important step in achieving this. Since the foundation of the foundation in 2014, 120 care buses have already been realized throughout the Netherlands. With the introduction of this electric alternative, the foundation expects to expand its fleet to 200 buses in the short term.

With the realization of the Volkswagen e-Crafter, an accelerated process has been set in motion to make healthcare transport more sustainable. Many polluting diesel buses can be replaced by this clean alternative. With a range of 150 kilometers and a fast loading capacity of 45 minutes, in combination with the transport of (wheelchair) passengers, this bus is revolutionary.
