Nothing is more annoying when you have to go to the toilet and this is not possible, with all the consequences that entails. Toilet facilities are being made in more and more places. There is even a website where caniknaardewc.nl. The Maag Liver Bowel Foundation, Stoma Association, Crohn and Colitis Association Netherlands (CCUVN), Irritable Bowel Syndrome Interests Association (PDSB), Foundation for people with Digestive Cancer (SPKS), Continence Foundation NL, De Zonnebloem, disability umbrella organizations Elke (in) and KansPlus, senior citizens 'associations KBO-PCOB and KBO-Brabant, travelers' organization Rover and Koninklijke NVVH-Vrouwennetwerk are members of this Toilet Alliance. Rover travelers' association is a member of this Toilet Alliance because bus and train travelers often find too few toilets at bus and train stations, or in regional trains and sprinters.

The Dutch Railways reports to them website that they have now renewed 66 of the 131 Sprinter type Sprinter Light Train with a sliding step and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. So they are halfway with conversion. The new sliding step ensures that the train is even more accessible. And a wheelchair-friendly toilet is indispensable in these times. Now the NS still has to convert 65 sprinters. The NS sprinters are being converted by the Bombardier Siemens Lighttrain consortium in Aachen (Germany). The Sprinters are refurbished in pairs in the workshop in Aachen. These trains will also have a special emergency button, which allows the passenger to have direct contact with the driver in an emergency. There are also two marked spaces for wheelchairs and space for two bicycles. For visually impaired passengers, tactile and audible information is provided so that they can find their way in and around the toilet as well as possible. It will come as a relief to many travelers that all sprinters are expected to be converted by the end of 2021.
