In any case, sitting on the couch waiting for your test results to come back, while you actually feel better again, is no longer necessary. The corona rapid test streets are suddenly all over the country. Commercial companies are popping up like mushrooms. The GGD is unable to quickly conduct corona tests in the area and the rapid tests need XNUMX minutes to tell whether someone is infected with the corona virus. Some companies only work for individuals and others visit large offices to test people.

The Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate (IGJ) calls on people to be careful with commercial test providers. According to a spokesperson, this concerns non-hygienic work, the use of non-validated tests, positive results that are not reported to the GGD, locations that are not corona-proof and the administration of tests by employees without a care background.

As with the PCR test, now used in the test lanes, a cotton swab is used to remove some moisture from the nose and throat. But the process after that is much simpler than with a PCR test, where DNA has to be multiplied millions of times. Commercial test companies currently offer two tests. The PCR test is the corona test as performed by the GGD. This test uses a swab from your nose and throat to measure whether coronavirus particles are present in your body. The other test is a serological test. A small amount of blood is taken and the presence of antibodies for the corona virus is checked.
