The Clean Skies for Tomorrow (CST) coalition, of which Eindhoven Airport (as part of Royal Schiphol Group) is part, has asked the European Commission to introduce a European blending obligation for aviation fuel by 2025 at the latest. According to CST, a blending obligation is one powerful incentive to scale up the production of sustainable jet fuel. CST hopes that the European Commission will announce the blending obligation next year and that it will come into effect no later than 2025. CST wants the mandatory blending ratio to increase until 2050.

Roel Hellemons (CEO of Eindhoven Airport): “Sustainable aviation fuel is an important means that contributes to making aviation more sustainable. It is necessary to increase production thereof. A European blending obligation promotes investment in this technology and prevents a choice in Europe for different, incompatible approaches. ”

Cleaner fuel contributes to further reducing CO2 emissions. Eindhoven Airport is one of the parties involved in the Sustainable Aviation Table and which has formulated the ambition in the 'Smart and Sustainable' sector plan to achieve a 2030 percent admixture of sustainable aviation fuel by 14. Ultimately, the intention is for agreements to be made at European level. Eindhoven Airport reports this on them website.

Clean Skies for Tomorrow CST is an alliance within the World Economic Forum that works together to develop sustainable solutions that ensure aviation is carbon neutral by 2050. The coalition consists of airlines, airports, manufacturers and fuel suppliers. Members include Airbus Group, The Boeing Company, KLM, Shell, SkyNRG, Heathrow Airport and Royal Schiphol Group.
