The cabinet has promised VDL Nedcar to actively contribute to preserving the factory and employment. To this end, the cabinet is continuing close contacts with VDL Nedcar and other parties involved and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) is intensively involved in the acquisition process for new client (s).

During the EZK budget discussion on 4 and 5 November last, MP Graus submitted a motion requesting the government to help with an integral plan for the further development and future-proofing of VDL Nedcar.

With regard to the area development around the Nedcar factory, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) has made a conditional commitment of EUR 6,8 million to the original plans of EUR 41 million. If the additional ring road around the VDL Nedcar business park also continues, EZK will contribute 2,5 million euros to the additional costs of 22 million euros. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management contributes to a better connection of VDL NedCar to the A2, which benefits the accessibility of VDL NedCar.

It is now up to VDL Nedcar, who can best estimate where the possibilities and any obstacles lie, to work out the approach in more detail and indicate what is needed. Subsequently, Minister Wiebes will jointly further flesh out the involvement and role of central and local governments and other relevant parties.
