All restaurants may open their doors from mid-December, with strict corona measures. Sources report that to the political editors of RTL News. Initially work was done on an experiment with the reopening of 25 restaurants, but it is now also a serious option to have all restaurants open throughout the Netherlands.

As far as is known, the plans only concern restaurants. “A chic restaurant is different from a packed party café on the Leidseplein,” a source told the RTL News editorial team.

Of course, the relaxation also depends on the corona virus in the coming weeks. If the expected decline is disappointing, there is a risk that few easing will be possible. Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge want to hold a press conference on 8 December to provide more clarity.

Previously, the cabinet's chief pandemic adviser, the Outbreak Management Team (OMT) experts, advised that a restaurant reopening should be investigated. Restaurants could open, with some restrictions and precautions.
