Since 1 January 2021, the health insurer has been paying the costs of GZSP care. Due to adjustments in medical care for specific patients - also known as GZSP care - a number of taxi companies were unexpectedly faced with surprises. It concerns care for vulnerable patients who live at home. From 1 January, this care will be reimbursed from the basic health insurance package, which of course consequences has for taxi companies that transport rather reason for these patients.

From 1 January 2021, GZSP care will be included in the basic package of the Health Insurance Act. This means that from now on, the transport must also be claimed from a health insurance policy that the patient has taken out with a health insurer. The health insurer purchases care from practitioners. But not with all practitioners. Some practitioners do not have a contract with the health insurer. It is therefore important to check with the health insurer whether the practitioner or taxi company has a contract. Because you will only be fully reimbursed for care if your practitioner has a contract with your health insurer.

As a result of this new arrangement, the patient also pays part of the costs for GZSP care himself. That's because GZSP care then falls under the deductible of the health insurance falls. The deductible is the part of the healthcare costs that you pay yourself. Most patients already spend their deductible on other medical care. For them, the total healthcare costs will not increase after 1 January 2021. The GZSP directing practitioner is your doctor for the mentally handicapped, specialist in geriatric medicine, or behavioral scientist. The directing practitioner arranges the medical care for a specific group of vulnerable patients, also called GZSP care. From 1 January 2021, the patient will receive a directing practitioner if you receive this care.

declaration taxi companies

Due to poor communication beforehand, not all taxi companies have concluded contracts for the patients who transported them before 1 January with all health insurers where they have to declare the transport. Previously, the transport was declared directly, but that is no longer possible. The KNV branch organization indicates that it has brought this to the attention earlier, but despite everything, the change comes unexpectedly for many taxi operators who are now in their stomach with the declaration. In addition, health insurers indicate that they have national contracts with transport companies, which means that taxi companies are no longer allowed to transport their regular patients themselves.

It is wise to allow little or no changes to take place in this target group. Not even in the taxi company that transports these patients. They often have had a regular driver who knows the patient for years. GZSP care can be obtained when one has several problems such as physical and / or psychological complaints or special diseases such as Parkinson's, Huntington's, Korsakov or multiple sclerosis. The target group is also persons with a physical disability due to a stroke, an accident or a brain tumor or older than 18 years and a mental disability.

If the patient travels to the GZSP care in a taxi or taxi van, together with other people, you will receive an amount per kilometer from your health insurance. How high that amount is differs per health insurer. It is always wise to call your health insurance when you travel to GZSP care. In addition, you always have to pay a fixed amount per year for your transport to GZSP care. In 2020 this was an amount of 105 euros for the whole year. If you travel to this care yourself, you will not receive any reimbursement from your health insurer in that case. You do not pay a fixed amount per year.
