The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality intends to grant Eindhoven Airport a permit under the Nature Conservation Act. This is required for civil use of the airport. According to the ministry, the activities of Eindhoven Airport for which the permit has been applied for do not affect the natural features of the relevant Natura 2000 areas. That is why the ministry considers the activities of Eindhoven Airport to be licensed. The ministry writes this in its draft decision published yesterday in the Government Gazette. Eindhoven Airport is satisfied with the intention of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.

The ministry considers our activities licensable. This is a great starting point for continuing to develop the airport in harmony with the environment, in consultation with the surrounding area and other parties involved.

On October 1, the airport submitted an application for a nature permit based on the use of the airport in accordance with the Airport Decree 2014. Eindhoven Airport a maximum of 43.000 aircraft movements per calendar year allowed. The design permit now published is in line with this application. LNV previously indicated that Eindhoven Airport needs a permit under the Nature Conservation Act. In April 2020, the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality decided after an enforcement request against the lack of a permit that the airport had to apply for the permit by 1 October at the latest.
