During a symposium organized by ROCOV Overijssel, the more than eighty participants, including politicians and travelers from Overijssel and beyond, laid down wishes regarding Public Transport and Mobility to and from Overijssel in an agreement. These messages are seen from a traveler's perspective. The Overijssel Mobility Agreement states that public transport in the city and village must be accessible and affordable within a reasonable distance.

A plea is also made for less competition and more government control with regard to public transport. The agreement is not binding, but should lead to a broader discussion. The Mobility Agreement for Overijssel was presented by ROCOV to the provincial fractions and the national political parties.

The Provincial Executive (Deputy Monique van Haaf) and the Provincial Council (Chairman of the Committee on Traffic and Transport: Jeanet Nijhof) of Overijssel have groceries from the symposium to heart and received. It called for attention to, among other things, the electrification of the Gronau - Enschede train line and allowing this line to be interconnected to Zwolle. On the train line Dortmund - Enschede - Hengelo, there is a plea to allow the use of battery trains. If double track is not (yet) possible, attention will be paid to the construction of passing tracks to improve traffic flow and expansion of the infrastructure of the track in East Netherlands to ensure a good connection between the timetable and the intercity trains is a point of attention.

energy and emissions

Together, ProRail and transporters must conduct research into alternative energy sources on the track, whereby tests are carried out outside the timetable. Making bicycle and public transport more attractive than car use, also to significantly reduce CO2 emissions (from cars).
