It was too good to be true, an email from Ford van Mossel in which you get into a brand new Ford Fiesta from €139 per month. Time for our Pitane Blue editors to find out how this, to say the least misleading email campaign works. Immediately clicking on the action link brought us to the same offered car but at a much higher rate based on a Financial Lease construction.

chat box help

Time to ask questions about this in the chat box where Anne immediately spoke to us with the question of what attracts us when choosing this car. She immediately asked us if she could make a calculation. So well educated, but our question was more why the email offered different information than what was applicable in reality. Unfortunately, Anne was unable to answer that and referred us to the Van Mossel Ford sales department to call. Our call to the sales department didn't get us much further and a copy of the email we received was requested to verify what the actual offer was.

misleading advertising

After receiving our email it became clear that this is a Ford Options formula and not a Financial Lease which was originally placed behind the information link of the email. With Ford Options you only pay off what you 'use', namely the difference between the purchase price and the residual value. With a possible down payment, the mileage and the term you influence your monthly amount yourself. At the end of the contract, there are three options: renew, return or keep. This means you drive a brand new Ford every two or three years, with a factory warranty and minimal maintenance costs.

It has to be said, whether our phone call was decisive or not, the link behind the previously sent email has been adjusted in the meantime and now refers to the correct construction instead of a financial lease construction at a much higher monthly rate. Whether the Ford Options formula is the right solution then everyone has to decide for themselves.
