Research conducted in response to the campaign “together we make something beautiful” shows that consumers value recycled materials in their cars. With this in mind, car manufacturers can be encouraged to use recyclable materials in new cars wherever possible. Car companies and bodyshops are encouraged to reuse car parts in collaboration with car dismantling companies.

The research results have been shared with RAI Association, BOVAG, FOCWA, Stiba and RDW as co-directors of the campaign 'Together we make something beautiful' www.wemakenerietsmooisvan.nl… . The online survey focused on three themes currently occupying the automotive sector:

  1. Reuse car parts
  2. Recyclable materials in new cars
  3. Car Ownership

According to RNA, also known as Auto Recycling Nederland, the results show that consumers attach great importance to the subject of sustainability.

“Sustainability is a clear motive when buying a new car: 8 out of 10 consumers think it is important that the car is made from recycled raw materials. The majority of the respondents indicate that they consider the reuse of material important. Sustainability is also an issue in the maintenance of the car, for example when it comes to reusing parts for repairs. No less than 90 percent indicate that they have confidence in used car parts”.
