People who leave a shared scooter in a place where it affects others, for example in the middle of the sidewalk, can from now on be fined. If the scooter has to be moved, the user has to pay a fee of 50 euros. And if people regularly make mistakes, they may no longer be allowed to rent a scooter at all. The company felyx, one of the largest providers of shared scooters in the Netherlands, announced this on Thursday.

To prove that the scooter is parked properly, users are asked to take a photo of the vehicle and its surroundings. The rule was first tested in Eindhoven and has now also been introduced in Groningen, Delft, Den Bosch, Haarlem and Brussels. Later, the penalty must also be introduced in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. People who park the scooter neatly can receive free driving minutes as a reward.
