The neighbors day is often an incentive to get together with neighbors throughout the year.

On September 24, we will stop all mobility in your own street or neighbourhood. Celebrate Neighbors Day by making the neighborhood in front of your door more fun. Neighborhoods become more fun, more social and safer when neighbors meet, help each other and work together for the neighbourhood. Participating in society starts in your own neighbourhood. A cozy neighborhood bingo, a game day for the kids in front of the door, a cozy dress day or a neighborhood BBQ with snacks and a drink. If you don't do anything in the street because something like that isn't possible, then you go cycling actively with your neighbors.

Why?

The past two years have shown us how nice and important it is to have people nearby that you can fall back on when needed. Because neighborhoods become more fun, more social and safer when neighbors meet, help each other and work together for the neighbourhood. Everywhere in the Netherlands you will find community centers, community centers and village houses. But neighborhood vegetable gardens, playgrounds, retirement homes and petting zoos are also important meeting places for the neighbourhood. If you want to meet new local residents and have a nice cup of coffee together, knock on the door!

there are probably good musicians in your own street

From baking cakes together for the annual neighbors day to maintaining the front gardens while enjoying a nice glass of wine. A safe bouncy castle for the little ones or an ice cream truck for the kids. With a little creativity and a minimum of money you can enjoy the neighborhood. While enjoying a cup of coffee or tea (and of course some sweets), the adults enjoyed being together.

The past two years have shown us how nice and important it is to have people nearby that you can fall back on when needed. Thousands of neighborhoods now participate every year, in 2021 even a record number of 6.300. Neighbors can submit an application to the Oranje Fonds via Burendag.nl for a financial contribution of a maximum of 350 euros for their Burendag activities and a Burendag package. To be eligible for this, the activity must meet certain conditions. These can be found at Burendag.nl.

Do not forget to apply for all permits so that the municipality also knows what you are doing and can close the street to all traffic if necessary. A matter of informing what is necessary or one of the scenarios download.
