Groningen Airport Eelde (GAE) adhered to the noise standards last year. A number of rules for circuit flights from the airport have been violated this year. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) has issued a warning to the flight school involved and the foreign airline. This is stated in the enforcement report of the ILT that was sent to the House of Representatives today by Minister Harbers (IenW).
Supervision of regional airports
Rules for the use of the airport and noise standards apply to regional airports such as Groningen Airport Eelde. There are also rules to limit flying over populated areas as much as possible. The ILT checks whether Groningen Airport Eelde and the parties flying to it comply with the noise standards and rules. Isn't that happening? Then the ILT can impose measures, penalties or fines. At the end of a year of use, the ILT draws up an enforcement report with the results of the supervision. This covers the period from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

The ILT has received 2 complaints during circuit flights (test, training or training flights). The ILT investigated whether the rules for using the airport had been violated in these circuit flights. The ILT found a violation on both flights. The flight school involved and a foreign airline received a warning letter.
Deviations from flight routes
The ILT investigated 64 flights that deviated from the departure routes. These flights deviated marginally from the departure route. Or they deviated due to additional instructions from air traffic control, meteorological conditions or conflicting air traffic. As a result, there was no need for the ILT to enforce this.
night flights
The enforcement report mentions 136 flight movements after 23.00 p.m. Research by the ILT shows that these flights fall into the category of rescue operations, assistance or medical flights where an immediate take-off or landing is required. As a result, no irregularities were found on this subject.

Groningen Airport Eelde has not exceeded the noise limit values in the enforcement points, according to the inspection of living environment and transport.
