Many students who now get behind the wheel for the first time will only drive an electric car after obtaining their license (Country-specific regulations apply. Drivers who have obtained their driver's license in an electric car are only allowed to drive electric cars and in cars with an automatic transmission). Four driving schools in Norway and the Netherlands are leading the revolution in driver training for “Generation E” and chose the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E as the perfect car for their students.

“With the Mustang Mach-E as a training car, it is possible to obtain your driver's license in fewer lessons. As soon as the student steps into the Mach-E, self-confidence increases. There are many systems on board that make driving easier. The driver can focus on the road and thus develop a better awareness of road conditions and traffic earlier in the learning process.”

During the driving test in the Mustang Mach-E, the driver is allowed to use on-board driver assistance, for example for the ramp test (The requirements and regulations for driving tests vary by country). The Mustang Mach-E offers another important advantage: the instructor can easily adjust the car's settings to the learner's wishes, in terms of how responsive the car should be under acceleration and braking. The ease of use, including the large information screen and one pedal drive, also attracts older students who previously chose not to learn to drive.

The use of electric cars by driving schools is even changing the way driving lessons are given. For example, instructors teach new drivers important efficiency techniques with which they can increase the range of the car. For many “Generation E” drivers – who are more likely to own an electric car – their belief in an electric future is reinforced by this new teaching method and their experience with the Mustang Mach-E.

For instructors and driving school owners, the car's large all-electric range combined with lower operating costs is a great addition. In addition, the eye-catching design and streamlined appearance also provide eye-catching advertising for the driving school. According to the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure). With a fully charged battery, a range of up to 610 km (the target target value according to the WLTP) is possible – depending on the existing series and battery configuration. Actual range may vary based on several factors (such as weather conditions, driving style, route profile, vehicle condition, and the age and condition of the lithium-ion battery).

“Students are asking for the Mustang Mach-E, and I plan to add another one to my fleet.”

On the way to the future

Ford is committed to improving the availability of electric cars to customers. By 2026, Ford aims to sell 600.000 electric cars annually in Europe, in support of its goal of producing more than two million electric cars annually worldwide by that year.

The company recently signed a petition with 27 other companies to ensure that all new cars and commercial vehicles in Europe will be emission-free by 2035 and called for targets to expand the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Europe to keep pace with the growth rates of electric vehicles, according to Ford.
