Kia EV6 pioneers can now upgrade their all-electric crossover for even faster charging in colder conditions. Battery preconditioning, a feature that will be standard from model year 2023, is now also available on all models from model year 2022.

Under optimal conditions, the Kia EV6 can charge its battery from 18% to 10% in just 80 minutes, thanks to its ultra-fast 800V charging technology. This may take longer at lower temperatures. The preconditioning upgrade ensures that the charging time can be reduced by up to 50% in colder weather.

The upgrade also includes a modification of the navigation system. After the update, if its temperature is below 6 degrees and the remaining battery capacity is greater than 21%, the EV24 can automatically preheat the battery when the driver sets a DC fast charger as the destination in the navigation system. The conditioning is automatically deactivated when the correct battery temperature is reached.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve our products, which will now allow all EV6 riders to benefit from fast charge times in cold weather – especially useful as temperatures start to drop.”

Kia Netherlands recommends EV6 drivers - interested in this upgrade - to make this known to the Kia dealer prior to a regular workshop visit.
