Inland Shipping Day is on Saturday 12 November between 10:00 and 15:00, on the final day of the Maritime Week. Throughout the country, the public is welcome at more than 30 locations to attend various activities. The aim of this day is to offer interested parties a real insight into this fascinating industry.

On this day there is plenty to do for the public on board ships, at schools, shipyards, terminals, inland shipping museums, at a lock, in simulator centers and all kinds of activities are organized at the Waterscouting. There are locations to visit everywhere from Westerbroek in Groningen to Terneuzen in Zeeland and from Delft to Nijmegen. Those interested will receive one or more special experiences during this day. So that they learn more, become more interested and perhaps consider opting for an inland navigation course or a job in the sector.

After an interruption of two years, the World of Inland Shipping, the organizer of this day, has once again managed to this event to organise. It is intended that this day will become an annual event. The day is primarily organized to raise awareness of this relatively unknown industry, which in our country transports 369 million tonnes of goods and employs approximately 20.000 people.

Like many other industries, inland shipping is struggling with a (threatened) shortage of personnel and “world of inland shipping” hopes to reach potential colleagues in this way and to interest them in a job or training in the maritime sector, together with its partners.
