The 'own power model' is launched, whereby residents can choose for themselves which of the contracted carriers they want to use for their transport.

The municipality of Barendrecht is doing everything it can to improve the services related to Wmo transport. That is why important changes will be implemented on August 1. Five new carriers, Trevvel, Rotterdamse Taxi Centrale (RTC), Taxi Air, Passenger Transport Midden Nederland and Taxibedrijf Van Ballegooijen, will become available to residents who use Wmo transport.

The Wmo transport, an adapted transport service, is intended for those residents who, due to physical or psychological limitations, can no longer arrange their own transport independently or with the assistance of relatives. This transport offers assistance to those who, for example due to a handicap, limitation or mental illness, are no longer able to travel independently by public transport.

'own power model'

The 'own power model' is launched, whereby residents can choose for themselves which of the contracted carriers they want to use for their transport. “The idea behind this is to improve the quality of service by offering more freedom of choice,” says alderman Miranda de Hoop. “None of the carriers may refuse journeys, and this guarantees that the existing transport capacity is used optimally.”

De Hoop believes that this model will promote participation and create equal opportunities for everyone to actively participate in society. “The 'own power model' is a big step forward. We hope that users of this service enjoy their rides,” she added.

Information about these new changes in the Wmo transport service will be sent by post in the coming week to residents who already use this service or are eligible for it.
