In terms of day-to-day operations, local taxi companies continue to play a prominent role.
Connexxion Taxi Services will be the new transport partner in Northeast Brabant for the period 2024-2028. The contract with the current service provider, Munckhof Taxi BV, expires on December 31, 2023. The services provided by Regiotaxi Noordoost-Brabant are twofold.
On the one hand, it offers door-to-door transport for people with a Wmo indication in various municipalities, including Bernheze, Boekel and Maashorst. On the other hand, the regional taxi comes in when there are no regular public transport connections available within a ten-minute walking distance. This ensures that people with mobility limitations can participate in society, a core mission of the GR-KCV Brabant Noordoost, the umbrella body responsible for the implementation of this transport.

Until now, regional taxi transport was carried out by Munckhof Taxi BV, in collaboration with local subcontractors such as Taxi van Alebeek and Taxi van Dijk. According to the regional authorities, the collaboration has been completely satisfactory over the past five years. Nevertheless, there is now a shift in the landscape. None of the other tenderers objected to the final award to Connexxion, which was confirmed on August 1.
zero emission
The company's sustainability plans are important when choosing Connexxion Taxi Services. From January 1, 2024, current vehicles will be gradually replaced by electric vehicles, with the aim of making all transport zero emissions by 2026. Good employment practices also played a role. Connexxion has promised that 80% of the hours worked will be performed by drivers with an indefinite contract and who work at least 16 hours per week.
The actual transport will be carried out by three local taxi companies: Van Driel, Taxicentrale de Meierij and Van Helvoort. These companies are not unknown in the region; they currently also provide all target group transport. Regiotaxi Noordoost-Brabant emphasizes that the quality of transport will remain up to standard, despite the changing of the guard. The new contract with Connexxion has a term of five years but includes an option for an extension of up to three years. If the extension is used, the contract with Connexxion Taxi Services will expire on December 31, 2031 at the latest.
