This Sunday morning, October 22, Antwerp transforms into a dynamic battlefield where athletes and fans alike work up a sweat. Although the participants do their utmost to improve their personal records, De Lijn is busy working on ingenious solutions to ensure mobility in the city.

For those coming to the event, it is advisable to consult De Lijn's route planner or app in advance. The service ensures that everyone is aware of the most up-to-date travel information. This is an essential step for those who want to move without worries on this exciting day.

Parking in Antwerp is often a challenge, but De Lijn has responded by offering free park-and-ride locations on the edge of the city. Visitors can park their car here for a longer period of time and then transfer to trams, buses or even bicycles to travel to the city center.

The Antwerp Marathon is a running competition that includes a marathon over 42,195 km, which has been held annually since 1980, initially in September, then in April and then again in September in Antwerp. The start of the Antwerp marathon is on Droogdokkenweg, on the Eilandje. More than 12.000 participants are expected.

De Lijn is taking its marathon services to a higher level with numerous adjustments to the network. Metro stations remain open all day, but some tram and bus lines are diverted or temporarily suspended. For example, tram line 4 will change its route to make a loop via the Groenplaats and National Bank, while several bus lines, such as 13 and 14, will not run.

Specific changes also concern bus lines such as 17 and 20, which temporarily adjust their final stops until 19 p.m. After this time, most lines resume their normal timetable. Through these changes, De Lijn aims to reduce CO2 emissions while maintaining mobility in the city.

For more detailed information Runners and spectators can consult De Lijn's route planner, which is available both in app form and on the website. The official website of the Antwerp Marathon also offers useful information for participants.

In short, while the runners warm up their muscles for the big race, De Lijn has completed a marathon of preparations to make the event accessible to everyone. A successful marathon depends on good organization, and thanks to the efforts of De Lijn, both participants and supporters can fully enjoy what promises to be an unforgettable day.
