Jan de Wit Group's decision to choose Scania at this symbolic moment, their centenary, did not come out of the blue.

Striking extra shine on the centenary of Jan de Wit Group, because the Haarlem transport company chosen for ten new Scania Touring coaches. The vehicles are not only an ode to the ongoing collaboration between the two companies, but also a strong signal to the rest of the sector about the future of sustainable passenger transport.

Equipped with a 410 hp SCR-only 13-litre engine with Opticruise, five of these Scania Tourings are 12 meters long and have 49 seats, while the remaining five vehicles have a length of 13 meters and can accommodate 53 passengers. But it's not so much the impressive specs that draw attention; it is the choice of Jan de Wit Group to run these buses on HVO100 diesel, also known as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil.

Since 2019, the Jan de Wit Group has been using HVO100, a renewable diesel that reduces CO2 emissions by 80% to 90% compared to conventional fuels. Walter de Wit, one of the company's directors, sees HVO as a logical intermediate step towards the future transition to hydrogen. “Without having to destroy capital by writing off a relatively young fleet of Euro 6 vehicles early,” he emphasizes.

The new Tourings are the pinnacle of the latest generation of Scania buses, with a brand new design that, among other things, results in a weight reduction of up to 200 kilograms. The drivers have not been forgotten either; they get a comfortable ISRI NTS2 seat and an adjustable instrument panel. A redesigned front axle optimizes both weight distribution and passenger flow, improving the driving experience.
