The largest provider of mobility passes is taking new steps to encourage the use of public transport among business travelers. MultiTankcard has introduced OV Reizen, a service that makes it possible for lease drivers to use public transport anywhere in the Netherlands via an app. This step is part of a broader movement towards sustainable and digital travel solutions.
The innovation responds to the need for more efficient and sustainable use of transport modes, especially when the car is not the optimal travel option. The introduction of the MultiTankcard and MoveMove app removes the barriers to public transport travel, with travelers now experiencing a digital ticketing service that is free from the need for subscriptions and the complexity of individual tickets and declarations.
After starting with MoveMove, which directly serves business customers such as self-employed persons and SMEs, OV Reizen has expanded the service to leasing companies. This implies that a substantial group of approximately 500.000 lease drivers have access to a streamlined way to travel by public transport, facilitated by their employer. This is encouraged by the simplicity of the app and the fact that public transport costs are seamlessly integrated into business operations, as part of MultiTankcard's billing services.
"With this innovation we make public transport more attractive for this target group. Ultimately, public transport is a smarter alternative to the car in many situations. Consider, for example, a customer visit in the city center, or if you want to work flexibly during a long train ride. Roozeman highlights the ease of use and attractiveness of the service and illustrates how the service lowers barriers and makes public transport a more attractive alternative for business drivers who are usually confronted with the inconvenience of separate public transport chip cards and the declaration process. “MultiTankcard serves a huge group of more than half a million business motorists, who now experience barriers to traveling by public transport. People often do not have an OV chip card or they think that declaring separately is too much of a hassle,” says Roozeman.
