This strategic acquisition marks a new chapter in funeral transport services, with the aim of further improving quality, continuity and sustainability.

The funeral industry is a sector in which continuity and respect for the deceased and their relatives are central. In this sensitive market, recent developments have led to a remarkable consolidation movement. Post Mortem, part of the ZDG group, together with Verstraaten Staatsie Vervoer and Correct Monnereau, has joined forces through the acquisition of Rouwservice Nederland II BV (RSN), a move that will significantly influence the funeral transport landscape in the Netherlands.

The announcement of the acquisition was made on social media by Berry van Beek, regional manager of Post Mortem. During a meeting with new colleagues from Rouwservice Nederland, the future course of the combined companies was discussed. Van Beek emphasized the opportunities this merger offers for strengthening operational capabilities and increasing the quality of services.

This strategic move is not only a sign of growth, but also promises a period of intensive integration and cooperation. “We are looking forward to this new step and are fully committed to making the integration seamless,” Van Beek said on social media. This integration is essential to the success of the acquisition, as merging different corporate cultures and operational processes is a complex challenge.

Danny van Rosmalen, general manager of Post Mortem, explained further that the acquisition is an important step in expanding their services and work area. Post Mortem takes over RSN locations in strategic areas such as Amsterdam and Dronten, contributing to the improvement of the quality and sustainability of their services.

“This acquisition not only allows us to further improve our services, but also allows us to further invest in quality for our customers and in a sustainable working environment for our employees.”

Verstraaten Staatsie Vervoer, Correct Monnereau and Post Mortem, all known for their end-of-life logistics services, have jointly acquired Rouwservice Nederland (RSN).

The consolidation within the funeral industry can be seen as a response to the growing demand for high-quality services. At a time when relatives of surviving relatives increasingly value a respectful and dignified farewell, the expertise and capacity of funeral directors is crucial. By joining forces, the companies involved can offer a wider range of services and increase efficiency, which ultimately benefits the surviving relatives.

Verstraaten will take over the RSN locations in Wijchen, Eindhoven and Voerendaal and integrate them within its current work area. This expansion enables Verstraaten to further strengthen its services in the field of funeral transport. Geert-Jan Verstraaten, general manager of Verstraaten, expressed his satisfaction with the takeover: “We are pleased with the takeover and hope to be able to take further steps in the field of quality, continuity and further sustainability of funeral transport.”

In the coming days, Van Beek will be personally present at Post Mortem / Funeral Assist locations within his region to provide further information about the acquisition and what it means for the future. The coming months will focus on the integration of the RSN locations within the structures of the acquiring parties. RSN customers and employees will experience little change in the operational process for the time being. Important changes will be communicated in a timely and transparent manner to all stakeholders involved, with a careful approach paramount.
