Lighthouses, tree houses, castles and nostalgic gypsy wagons can be booked directly or can be won at the weekly auction. These are accommodations selected by Vipio in the Netherlands and Belgium. Other countries will also be added later.
“Vipio fits in with the trend that people mainly want to gain special experiences in their lives. I myself was also tired of boring hotel rooms and looking for places that you remember. However, the range of possible overnight stays is overwhelmingly large. That is why I was looking for a platform that had already made a good preselection but did not find it. By now including the gems on our own platform, we distinguish ourselves from existing parties such as Airbnb. ”René Schoenmakers said in a reaction.
De website is an initiative of entrepreneur René Schoenmakers, who invented and founded the internationally successful auction platform Catawiki in 2008. Together with his partners Mark Borgman and Aike van Deursen, he is now also at the basis of Vipio.

In addition to the fixed range of special accommodations, there is also an exclusive auction at Vipio every week, with packages specially composed for Vipio. In the first auction, the top lot is an overnight stay in the Wildlands zoo in Emmen, where someone has the zoo all to themselves for 17 hours. The winner sleeps with a family or friends in a tent in the middle of the animals. A round is made with the caretakers along the night quarters of the animals. After breakfast, the animal caretaker goes out and animals can be fed. Another auction lot is a weekend for 12 people in a large castle in the Ardennes.
