Almost two thirds of the holidaymakers who have received an ANVR Travel Voucher for a canceled trip during the corona crisis indicate that they are exchanging it for a holiday this year. But, for the time being, the plane is the most booked means of transport, after corona consumers seem to prefer the car more. Market researcher GfK recently commissioned travel agency ANVR to conduct a representative sample of travelers who had booked a holiday in the past six months.

90% of the surveyed holidaymakers say they adjust their booking behavior during this corona time. Of these, 30% indicate that they do book but only pay attention to taking health measures, about 20% say they book slightly less than usual, and 40% postpone books for a while. The vast majority (38%) of surveyed vacationers who book a trip say they do not consider corona when choosing a destination. A third indicate that they do go abroad, but stay a little closer to home.

Frank Oostdam, ANVR chairman: 'We see with travelers who are still unsure about a holiday that health risks (67%) in particular play an important role and whether the destination is open enough (55%). But our travel organizations and their partners adhere to all kinds of protocols, both at destination and towards them, to protect the traveler as well as possible. And destinations are also happy to receive tourists again, so they do everything they can to make them feel safe. And for the 7% who still have doubts because they are unsure about their return journey if the virus resides at destination, it is easy. All they have to do is book a package holiday and the ANVR travel agency will arrange repatriation if necessary; that's part of it '.

The aircraft is still the most popular means of holiday travel to date, at 52%, followed by the car (36%). However, respondents say that after corona they prefer the car a little more (47%) and the plane a little less (42%). Two thirds of the holidaymakers book the transport and accommodation as part of a package holiday or compose their own trip from separate parts. About 80% book this, on average 12-day, trip more than 3 months in advance.

Almost half of the holidaymakers (47%) who have received an ANVR Travel Voucher with SGR coverage, want to use this voucher to book a foreign trip this year, about 11% will use the voucher for a holiday in their own country and a quarter indicates to wait until they can exchange the voucher for money. According to it GfK research in this age of corona is consumer confidence in ANVRtravel companies have not really changed.

Frank Oostdam: 'We are pleased to see that most travelers consider it important that a travel company is affiliated with ANVR and SGR. Unfortunately, another 22% indicate that they are not paying attention to this, which is why these people may end up empty-handed with their uncovered voucher when their travel company goes bankrupt.
