Visitors to the Gooi & Vecht region can spend the night in a beautiful river cruise ship this month. The river cruise ship 'VIVA RIVERSIDE Huizen' has been moored in the Nautical Quarter in Huizen on 26 June and will remain here until at least 31 July. Huizen is the first municipality in the Netherlands to allow the operation of a river cruise ship as a hotel during the summer season. If the hotel ship is a success, the period may be extended to September 1, 2020.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, many new ideas are being launched to get both society and tourism going again. With the arrival of the hotel ship, the municipality of Huizen wants to visit Huizen and Throw & Fight stimulate. Guests can expect a unique stay as a base for discovering Huizen and the surrounding area. It goes without saying that this initiative places high demands on following the necessary RIVM measures.

'VIVA RIVERSIDE Housesis a four-star cruise ship with a length of 110 meters. There is room for over 120 guests on board the ship. According to shipping company Viva Riverside, the hotel ship is popular with guests of all ages, who spend an average of 2 to 3 nights on the ship and visit various attractions and museums in Huizen and the surrounding area. Very handy: bicycles can be safely stored on board.

The renewed LF Zuiderzee route was launched last June and is one of the national Long Distance Cycling icon routes. This iconic route is 440 km long and follows the contours of the former Zuiderzee and thus also passes through Blaricum, Huizen, Naarden and Muiden. A trip along (part of) this route can be perfectly combined with an overnight stay on the hotel ship. By following the Gooi & Vecht cycle junction network, the route can also be supplemented in order to discover other sights in Gooi & Vecht.
