Last week during the press conference, additional measures were announced by our cabinet. These extra measures apply until November 18. From 19 November, the rules that were pronounced on 14 October in a press conference by the cabinet will apply again. These extra measures should ensure that even more people stay at home and this in turn reduces the number of corona infections. Apparently it is still very difficult for many people to obey the rules and just party outside or at home.

Earlier, the cabinet had already introduced one as an extra measure alcohol sales ban set after eight in the evening. During the press conference, Mark Rutte also talked about the possible imposition of a curfew. At least for regions where the number of coronavirus infections continues to increase. This causes a lot of discussion in the House of Representatives. Setting a curfew means that we are no longer allowed to go outside from a certain time, unless you have a healthcare profession or, for example, need to supply a store.

If this rule takes effect, all that is needed is traffic on the roads and the streets will be deserted. Other countries have already preceded us by imposing a curfew. The state of emergency law must be used to establish a curfew. This Act ('Extraordinary Powers of Civil Authority Act') was enacted in 1996 and is intended for wars and disasters. This curfew as an extra measure prevents people from continuing to party. As soon as they are on the street for no valid reason, they will be fined. It remains to be seen whether a curfew will become one of the extra measures for certain regions.
