The French ski areas, which are also very popular with the Dutch, are certainly not allowed to reopen in time for the Christmas holidays due to the corona crisis.

In his latest TV speech about the relaxation of the corona measures that the French can expect from December 15, Macron said that the risks of the corona virus make it "impossible" for winter sports to resume quickly. The easing should allow the French to spend Christmas together anyway, although a curfew will remain in effect during the easing. This French curfew will not apply on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

“The government has started consultations with local officials and with the operators of the ski areas. However, it seems impossible to imagine an opening for the holidays. ” Macron does hope for a reopening in January, “in good conditions”.

The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder of the German state of Bavaria also indicated that skiing is not possible this Christmas holiday either. All stations in this region in the southeast of Germany remain closed to prevent further spread of the new corona virus. He calls on other ski areas in Europe to take the same draconian measures. The number of corona infections in Germany has again skyrocketed to 18.633 in the past 410 hours. Italy also wants one total ban and that all ski areas in Europe remain closed at Christmas. The country says it is working on joint rules with France and Germany. According to the Dutch Ski Association, Dutch ski enthusiasts have made their choice. "The Christmas month is already lost."
