The ultimate goal of the cabinet is no longer exhaust fumes from delivery vans or trucks in the city. Yesterday, parties from the transport sector, municipalities and State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven signed the urban logistics implementation agenda. This is reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management on their website. Clear agreements have been made about supplying cities completely clean and ensuring that transporters and entrepreneurs can continue to do their work properly in the city. From 2025, cities across the country will introduce a zero-emission zone, so that they are fully supplied clean.

State Secretary Van Veldhoven (Infrastructure and Waterstaat): “Now that we are more at home, it is noticeable how many vans and trucks are driving around in the cities. The agreements we make today ensure that in a few years' time it will become self-evident that the shelves in the city will be full, the waste will be collected and your package will arrive on time, but without exhaust fumes and CO2 emissions. I think it is great to work with cities and the transport sector here. This is the Netherlands transport country at its best. ”

The entrepreneurs can apply for a subsidy and switch to a clean truck or van. From March 15, entrepreneurs can receive subsidies of up to 5000 euros when purchasing or leasing such a van. The ultimate goal of this project is to reduce emissions of harmful particulate matter and gases and to make cities in the Netherlands healthier and more pleasant to work and live in. Fourteen cities in the Netherlands have already formally announced that they will introduce a zero-emission zone in their city by 2025. One of these fourteen is Tilburg.

Alderman Oscar Dusschooten: “We are committed to a sustainable and clean city and to achieve this, the municipal council is thinking in terms of opportunities and possibilities. Examples include a comprehensive network of charging stations by 2025, and the ambition to introduce a zero-emission zone for logistics transport within the Ringbaan by January 1, 2025. These kinds of initiatives are necessary to improve air quality and they fit in well with our pursuit of awareness. Because the transport of the future must be emission-free, sustainable and clean ”.
