Lannutti Group, an Italian transport and logistics company, has ordered 1.000 new Volvo FH trucks with I-Save. The company sees opportunities to use this latest fuel-saving technology to reduce fuel consumption by 10 percent and lower CO2 emissions. The 1.000 Volvos FH I-Save will be delivered to Lannutti in 2021 and 2022.

Lannutti Group is active in eight European countries with a fleet of 1.800 trucks. The decision to invest in 1.000 new Volvo FH trucks was taken after an extensive year-long fuel test comparing the new Volvo FH I-Save against other trucks in a mixed fleet. The result was an astonishing 10 percent fuel savings compared to an equivalent standard truck. (Compared to standard Volvo FH with Euro 6 Step C engine).

“When we replace trucks in our fleet, we give priority to low-emission vehicles. In addition to reliability, a low tare weight of the truck is crucial to create a high payload and keep fuel consumption to a minimum. After the positive test period, we decided that all new Volvo trucks should be I-Save trucks, ”explains Valter Lannutti, CEO of Lannutti Group.

The Volvo FH I-Save combines an extra-efficient engine with fuel-saving features that reduce fuel consumption in long-haul journeys, without compromising driveability. Lannutti's trucks are also equipped with additional safety features, such as Lane Change Support and Driver Alert Support, which help prevent accidents. Volvo Trucks Netherlands reports this on their website.

“We don't compromise on safety. It is important to provide our drivers with a safe and comfortable workplace and it is also a way to secure our deliveries. Fortunately, most accidents are minor. Nevertheless, trucks involved in an accident often need repairs and it is even more expensive if a truck is declared a total loss. Let alone what an impact it can have for a driver. All in all, I am convinced that additional safety systems are a good investment, ”says Valter Lannutti.
