Due to the international situation, the government says it has no choice but to extend the current travel advice until Saturday 15 May. The urgent advice for the May holiday is therefore: stay in the Netherlands, do not travel abroad. It is not yet possible to give advice for the summer holidays - that will follow as soon as possible. Rutte has high hopes that more can then be done. And that is important. For the people who want to go on holiday, but also for the entire travel industry that is ready to give us a carefree time. Something we can all use well.

"The development around the third wave in the Netherlands resembles what we see in neighboring countries. We are in the same boat. Paris and other parts of France, for example, have already entered a strict lockdown. You are now not allowed to go further than 10 kilometers from there. your home. In Germany the lockdown was extended by a few weeks last night, last night, while the contamination figures in Germany are clearly and significantly lower than ours. "

Two weeks ago, we all hoped to be able to make a few small relaxations before Easter. Under a number of conditions. We then talked about opening the terraces to a limited extent, about some more space for shops and about a partial reopening of higher education. But only if the R-number would stay around 1, or rather slightly below that, of course, and if the numbers in hospitals would also remain stable. And now, two weeks later, we have to conclude that this is not the case. On the contrary, the infection figures have risen sharply in the meantime, there are also more corona patients in the hospitals and the R-number is clearly above 1. That is the worrisome reality of today and therefore we cannot let go of any measures at the moment.

curfew

For the curfew, it is wise to postpone the start time by one hour when summer time starts and it is therefore longer light in the evening. That was the urgent advice from the mayors in the Security Council and also from the police, in connection with enforcement. In concrete terms, this means that the curfew will apply from Wednesday 31 March from 10 a.m. to 5:13 a.m. And for the rest everything will remain as it is now. And then there will be a new one on Tuesday, April XNUMX press conference.
