Marriott International has announced a new partnership with Uber. Stephanie Linnartz, president at Marriott International is thrilled that Marriott Bonvoy travel program customers are now linking their accounts to their Uber accounts to earn points on eligible transactions for free hotel stays when ordering food with Uber Eats and select rides they take with Uber.

For me, this partnership is beautiful for so many reasons. First, it represents hope. As more of our members return to travel or even start thinking about travel, this arrangement feels like a sign of spring - that the recovery may be getting closer. . "

The collaboration came about partly through a long-term friendship between Uber's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and the now deceased CEO Arne Sorenson who was brilliant at connecting people with ideas. As we all know, COVID-19 changed consumer behavior around the world. That had a major impact on both companies. Earlier this year, Dara told Arne that Uber Eats has transformed from its company's little sister to its big sister in a matter of months, as demand for home food delivery grew.

With many of the shared customers staying at home in 2020, it made sense for Marriott Bonvoy and Uber to work together and find a way for our customers to earn points for their next vacation. Now that it feels like the recovery is finally underway, the timing is perfect.
