In response to questions from MP Kwint (SP) about artists for the 'field labs' who do not get paid, van Engelshoven also reports that the organization of the field labs is in the hands of the sector itself. The artists who perform during the practical tests participate in the awareness that this is not a normal situation, but a test that does not involve payment. All those involved in the field testing of the Field Lab Events do this selflessly. The proceeds from ticket sales are reinvested in the event itself.
heavy blows
The corona crisis is a huge blow to the entire cultural and creative sector. The government is doing everything it can to limit this damage as much as possible. There are several generic and specific support measures that support the sector. If the conditions are met, the cultural sector can make use of generic support measures such as TVL, TOZO, NOW and TOGS.
An extensive overview of these support measures has previously been provided in the answers to the parliamentary questions of 15 September 2020. € 482 million has been made available through the second support package specifically for the cultural and creative sector. €150 million of this will go to municipalities to enable them to support local cultural institutions and facilities. This is a follow-up to the €48,5 million for vital regional infrastructure from the first support package for culture in 2020.
In addition, municipalities and provinces received additional resources in 2020 consisting of two times €60 million for municipalities and a one-off €8 million for provinces. Municipalities support the local and regional infrastructure of (pop) venues, companies, libraries, museums, art and cultural education, visual arts institutions, film theatres, amateur art institutions and festivals. For the generic tax support, I refer to the Decree on emergency measures for the corona crisis.
