In the weekend of 3 to 5 September, after 36 years, Formula 1 is back on the Zandvoort circuit. World-famous drivers such as our own Max Verstappen will compete for the first prize during this Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2021. Screeching tires and roaring engines, fans can indulge themselves during this event. This will bring a huge influx of fans to the track. About 110.000 visitors a day are expected. To ensure safe and effective traffic flows around this event, a special mobility plan has been drawn up and submitted to the municipality of Zandvoort. The mobility plan consists of the following points:

  • Spread of visitor flows.
  • The creation of temporary overnight stays in Zandvoort and/or the immediate vicinity is the basis of its success.
  • The train is the key to success.
  • The bicycle is the signboard.
  • Shuttle bus is necessary.
  • Organized bus transport.
  • Discouragement policy for visitors with a car.
  • Realization of a car-free area.
  • Aim for as little nuisance as possible for residents and businesses of both Zandvoort and surrounding municipalities.

The mobility plan has been drawn up by the organization of the Dutch Grand Prix (DGP) in collaboration and/or in consultation with all stakeholders and official partners involved. The purpose of the plan is to make this event safe and responsible and to help residents of the municipality of Zandvoort and the surrounding region to offer as much space and freedom of movement as possible during this event. The mobility plan is based on the STOMP principle. STOMP stands for Steps, Stairs, Public Transport, Mobility As A Service and Passenger Cars. This principle is the translation of the DGP's sustainability ambition for the mobility component.
