In consultation with the municipalities, RegioRijder has decided to drive in the Formula 1 weekend after all. However, limited. RegioRijder expects extra traffic on the road because of the event, as a result of which they cannot drive the normal time schedule. For student transport, the parents/guardians can assess for themselves whether their child can handle the possible crowds, delays and other situations. Compulsory education does not check on the Friday of the Formula 1 weekend the children who go to school with student transport. A negative travel advice applies to Wmo transport.

Student transport

On Friday 3 September, student transport to and from Haarlem, Bloemendaal, Zandvoort and Heemstede is possible. However, large crowds are expected on and around the roads to Zandvoort. There is driving to and from various locations, but the timetable is extremely uncertain. Delays, traffic jams and other routes can be severe for vulnerable children. It is up to the parents or the school to determine what is right for their child/children.

Due to the expected crowds around the event, schools may decide to cancel the transport. Parents will then be informed by the school about the change. Children who are brought to school by student transport will not be checked by Compulsory Education Officers on Friday of the Formula 1 weekend. This has been agreed with the municipalities of Central and South Kennemerland. Regional driver informs the parents who use student transport by e-mail.

Social Support Act transport

A negative travel advice applies to Wmo transport. Due to the crowds during the Formula 1 event, the rides for Wmo transport are limited in Haarlem, Bloemendaal, Zandvoort and Heemstede. Unfortunately, RegioRijder has no influence on the traffic situation that will arise. That is why she advises people not to book rides for these municipalities. Clients are also informed about this by email.

Why transport during the event?

RegioRijder always has customer service in mind. The reactions last week in the media from parents/carers, clients and others gave reason to reconsider the earlier decision. People can book rides. However, it remains busy on the road and this causes delays in travel time. The regular timetable cannot be realised. All Wmo travelers must take into account that the traffic situation can change during the day and the transport can be associated with (long) waiting times and travel times. For student transport, RegioRijder advises to carefully check whether a child can handle a ride with an unpredictable character. RegioRijder does its best to transport people as well and safely as possible, but has no influence on the influx of people to the event and the possible traffic congestion that goes with it.
