Only half of the carriers have applied for the extended continuity contribution. Corona had a financial impact in 2020 on taxi carriers that transport patients to and from the hospital, for example (seated patient transport). Health insurers in the Netherlands (ZN) have agreed with the Royal Dutch Transport (KNV) that the continuity contribution scheme (cb scheme), which carriers could already rely on, will be extended until December 2020. In addition, the additional cost percentage for carriers has been set at 2,35%.

Due to corona measures, patient transporters were able to make fewer journeys than before the corona outbreak. Nor could they carry several passengers at the same time. They also had to deal with longer changeover times. At the same time, they had to invest in mudguards and additional cleaning work. Partly due to government regulations, the measures lasted longer than the period in which the health insurers' cb scheme applied until now. That is why this arrangement is now also being extended for seated patient transport.

Extended cb scheme

ZN believes it is important that policyholders can use seated medical transport, both during and after corona. They are therefore pleased that we have reached agreement with the umbrella organization of carriers (KNV) about a suitable addition to the support that has already been promised. The reimbursement for covid rides is discounted in these agreements. The cb scheme had already been extended once before, but with this agreement will therefore have a duration from March to December 2020. to sign. The counter for this will be opened on 1 October. The counter can be found via VECOZO, just like with the original cb application. The extension is only open to carriers that have already made use of the cb scheme. The cb scheme was created to compensate for loss of turnover caused by the corona crisis.

Additional cost scheme

Part of these agreements is that the additional cost percentage for patient transporters has also been determined. This percentage is 2,35%. The providers who have applied for an additional cost scheme for 2020 can expect the contribution soon. With the additional cost scheme, healthcare providers receive an allowance for extra costs that they had to incur as a result of the corona crisis, for example for personal protective equipment.
