20 new taxi hosts are at work around Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings they guide taxi traffic to improve traffic flow and to prevent nuisance. They address drivers about behaviour, refer them to possible parking spaces and wave when it gets too busy. The taxi hosts have been working since October 1.

Through guidance they prevent as much congestion as possible and thus honking and yelling. The hosts refer the taxis from both the street and stand market and the call and order market such as Uber. Previously, the pop-up taxi places were mainly manned by traffic controllers. Taxi hosts work in a different way: they enter into a long-term 'relationship' with the taxi market.

Locations

The hosts are working at Leidseplein, Raamplein, Spiegelgracht and Leidsestraat, the Amstel, Blauwbrug, Halvemaanssteeg, Utrechtsestraat and Vijzelstraat. Due to the early closing times, the hosts are working from 21.30:01.30 PM to 250:XNUMX AM. Before corona, the number of taxis in the most popular locations could rise to XNUMX taxis per hour. In the coming years, the hosts and drivers must work together to ensure that this crowds remain acceptable for residents, entrepreneurs and visitors.
