According to the Polish newspaper Gazeta.pl, there is no possibility of confusion about the new logo of Brussels Airlines. The creative team looked around to see which logo with spheres from another sector was most suitable for Brussels Airlines, and the job was done. The new logo not only causes bad blood among the trade unions, but has now also become the topic of discussion in a legal joust. With a new logo, Brussels Airlines wants to turn a dark page in its history. CEO Peter Gerber said he wanted to make a 'strong statement' by proposing a new logo and brand identity for the ravaged airline.

During the presentation, about a hundred employees of Brussels Airlines took action at the hangar where the airline presented the first aircraft with the new logo. “People are symbolically turning their backs on the building,” said Olivier Van Camp of the socialist union. “We are not against a new logo per se, because innovation is not a problem. But the timing is not right.”

“The money could have been better spent,” says Tim Roelandt of the liberal trade union in the Netherlands report from VRT NWS. “There are other priorities.” He refers to the staff, who have gone through various restructurings, the temporary unemployment during the corona crisis and the heavy workload that was there last summer.

The logo of the Polish newspaper Gazeta is very similar to the new logo of Brussels Airlines, and they have noticed that too. The hashtag #LogoTwins has already sparked the first battle of words on social media. At Brussels Airlines they know the logo of Gazeta.pl and in the meantime reacted to the comments of the Polish newspaper. “We saw that logo before registering our logo as a trademark,” said Kim Daenen, spokeswoman for Brussels Airlines. “The two logos are not completely identical, and the two companies operate in completely different sectors,” says Daenen. “So there is no possibility of confusion.” The future will show whether the creative 'thievery' is done with.
