The number of company cars sold in the European Union last year was almost a tenth higher than in the first corona year. This is reported by the European trade association ACEA, with all categories doing better than in 2020. In total, just under 1,9 million new commercial vehicles were registered. That is still more than the 2,1 million from 2019, so before the corona crisis.

Sales of heavy trucks grew proportionally the most, rising by more than a fifth. Sales of medium-duty vehicles, almost 17 percent more than in 2020, also rose sharply. Bus sales increased by just under 3 percent. Sales of delivery vans, which make up the lion's share of all commercial vehicles, rose by 8,5 percent.

The major European markets all saw growth, with the exception of Spain. The increase was strongest in Italy, followed by France. In Germany, where the consequences of the corona crisis in 2020 were relatively minor, there was an increase in sales of 0,6 percent last year. The increase in the Netherlands was 12,5 percent.
