More than ever, cycling has the wind at your back in Brussels. Before the start of spring, they counted 32% more cyclists than in the same period last year. With the beautiful days ahead, Brussels Mobility is starting a new campaign to get even more people into the saddle and to use the bicycle as a daily mode of transport.

Cycling is increasingly becoming the way to get around in the city

The number of cyclists they counted in Brussels at the beginning of 2022 continues to rise: +25% and +32% respectively in January and February 2022 compared to 2021. Brussels Mobility sees a clear increase in bicycle traffic during rush hour on weekdays but also in the evenings. evening and at night (especially on weekends) after the relaxation of health measures (opening hours in the catering industry, reopening of nightclubs…).

"BrusselsFit" to get the population on a bicycle

Do you go to work by car and then work on your fitness in the evening in the fitness room? Why not kill two birds with one stone? Do your daily sport by cycling to work! And with the price of petrol or diesel at the pump, using the bike for commuting can save you a lot of money!

"Cycling is good for your health in several ways: it reduces traffic jams and thus stress, it improves air quality and can represent the daily portion of physical activity recommended by the WHO. For example, 2 out of 3 routes covered within Brussels are less than 5 km, exactly. the recommended 30 to 45 minutes a day!”

Brussels Mobility's new bicycle promotion campaign 'Bike for Brussels' makes Brussels 'the largest open-air fitness room' where you 'ride real bicycles'. The target group? The over 40s who take the car even for short distances. Many influencers, including Joelle Scoriels and Eric Boschman, will help get the message across.

The campaign is distributed via posters and digitally, but also on the ground. See you on 8 May for an 'Open air spinning' event in the center of Brussels. Fitness exercises will also be offered to cyclists on 3 emblematic bike paths of the capital. We are also planning targeted activations in the fitness rooms of several large companies Brussels Mobility
