A day out by train is never wrong. No hassle with parking your car somewhere, traffic on the road and high petrol costs. Many of us will still remember, train tickets on offer at, for example, Kruidvat, Etos, Hema, Blokker, Albert Heijn or online. Scrutinizing the internet for an offer with train tickets, it has been a very long time since extremely cheap train tickets were used. We can't imagine a day by train at the weekend throughout the Netherlands for €9,95, Kruidvat had this promotion in 2005. Many Dutch people took advantage of this stunt promotion. As the years passed, the promotions with train tickets became less and more expensive. Due to the consequences of the corona pandemic, the government asked travelers to only travel by train for a long time if this was really necessary, and there were of course no more promotions with train tickets.

Unfortunately, the Dutch Railways has informed Trainpassenger.nl that they will no longer stunt with train card promotions for the time being. This year, the NS has started selling train tickets with a 10 percent early booking discount for off-peak hours. And if you choose a quiet train between the route The Hague – Eindhoven, you can get a discount of up to 60 percent. The quieter the train, the higher the discount. The NS also has the group ticket during off-peak hours, the larger the group, the cheaper the train ticket. They also offer various train tickets at a discount to cities, zoos or with an overnight stay via the Spdeelwinkel. With the current petrol prices, more and more people will probably opt for the train, even if there are no more stunt offers.
