In 2035, no more fuel or hybrid cars will be allowed to be sold.

Calculations show that electric driving is still cheaper than diesel and petrol. But the difference has become much smaller. Those who can charge at home and have solar panels will of course pay the costs faster. When you have to use the public charging infrastructure or when you have to watch out for fast chargers along the road.

Petrol and diesel became more expensive, but electricity prices in particular have risen sharply due to the energy crisis. Add the more expensive purchase value of the electric car and the facts speak for themselves. on If you drive 15.000 kilometers per year, it will take you at least 20 years before you recoup the difference in purchase price. So more than the life expectancy of a car. Last year you could already get out of the costs after 180.000 kilometers. The purchase price had been falling for a long time as batteries became cheaper, but that has stagnated.

tax deductibility

Anyone who leases an electric car and also uses it privately pays a lower addition than for a car with a combustion engine. This also applies to entrepreneurs who use their business electric car privately. The lower addition for the drivers may still make it interesting. The 'environmental investment allowance' (MIA) and the 'arbitrary depreciation of environmental investments' (Vamil) will no longer apply to electric passenger cars from 2022. The government believes that the electric car is now commonplace and therefore no longer needs an incentive.

In 2035, no more fuel or hybrid cars will be allowed to be sold.

This is also an important motivator for many motorists. Just like private drivers, entrepreneurs do not pay BPM (Taxation of Passenger Cars and Motor Vehicles) and MRB (motor vehicle tax) on electric cars. The CO2 emissions usually determine the calculation of the BPM. Since electric cars do not contribute here, they are exempt from BPM. The government has also decided to exempt all electric vehicles from MRB until 2025 in order to further stimulate their use.

climate goals

Electric driving also contributes to the climate goals. Petrol and diesel cars will disappear from showrooms within fifteen years, if it is up to the European Commission. In 2035, no more fuel or hybrid cars will be allowed to be sold. This is stated in the climate plan 'Fit for 55' that was presented by Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. The plan contains new or stricter measures to reduce CO2 emissions within the EU by 2030 percent by 55 compared to 1990. In any case, the electric car is not climate neutral, but it is. cleaner than fuel car.
