A luxury means of transport once designed and built in 1842 for Queen Victoria.

The Queen has yet to be taken to London, a journey that consists of several stages. From Balmoral Castle, where she died peacefully surrounded by her family, she is first taken to her official Scottish residence, Holyroodhouse Palace in Edinburgh. Then the Queen is taken from Edinburgh to London by plane along with Princess Ann.

After the casket of Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest reigning monarch, has returned to London, the Queen will lie in state in Westminster Hall about four days before her funeral for the public to pass by. She will be taken in a slow procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, accompanied by a military parade and members of the Royal Family.

The Queen's state funeral is expected to take place in Westminster Abbey in less than two weeks. The exact day will be confirmed by Buckingham Palace. Heads of state from around the world will fly over to join members of the royal family to commemorate the Queen's life and service. Senior British politicians and former prime ministers will also be there.

After the funeral service, the Queen's coffin is drawn in a walking procession from the abbey to Wellington Arch, in London's Hyde Park Corner, before heading to Windsor by hearse. The Queen's casket will make its final journey that afternoon to St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Queen's casket will be lowered into the Royal Vault before being interred in King George VI's Memorial Chapel, which is located in St George's Chapel.

The Queen will be flown to London but was previously thought to make the journey by Royal Train. A luxury means of transport once designed and built in 1842 for Queen Victoria to serve as a mobile palace when the Queen needed to travel across the country. The royal train consists of nine separate carriages ('saloons'). In 1977 - in that year Queen Elizabeth was exactly 25 years as queen - were saloons designed especially for Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee Tour.
