In the coming weeks, Schiphol will allow more than 9000 fewer travelers to leave per day.

Bad news for passengers and airlines again. KLM cancels another 34 flights that would depart from Schiphol today. The airline is also looking at which flights can be canceled for tomorrow and Monday.

The airline is doing this after Schiphol's decision yesterday to allow an average of 9250 fewer travelers to leave for the next month and a half due to a shortage of security personnel. “KLM is very displeased with the fact that Schiphol has only indicated on Friday that it cannot handle the number of passengers boarding in Amsterdam on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.said a statement from the airline.

Due to the reduction of 18 percent, flights cannot continue for many passengers. The measure comes a day after CEO Dick Benschop announced to step up. Schiphol has been suffering from long waiting times for security for months. In the summer, the lines became shorter, partly because the staff received a summer bonus.

Airline KLM, Schiphol's largest customer, reacts very 'disappointed' to the measures 'so short in advance'. “These have far-reaching consequences for our passengers, colleagues and the national and international reputation of Schiphol and therefore KLM”, according to the company. Passengers who want to travel later due to this situation can rebook free of charge, KLM informs in advance.
