JetBlue Spreads Its Wings with a Second Transatlantic Destination from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
JetBlue has spread its wings even further across the Atlantic with the launch of a daily nonstop flight between Boston Logan International Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This new route follows the successful debut of the daily connection between Amsterdam and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on August 30. “This expansion offers both leisure and business travelers more options at lower rates than legacy carriers that have dominated the market for decades,” said Dave Clarke, Head of Revenue & Planning at JetBlue.
For Boston, a city that generates more than $35 million annually from tourism from the Netherlands, this expansion is much more than a new flight path. “The Netherlands is a very important overseas market for us,” emphasized Martha Sheridan, Meet Boston President & CEO. She sees JetBlue's expansion as a crucial step for Boston to boost its international visitor numbers, especially after the decline caused by the pandemic.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, just 20 kilometers from Amsterdam, is one of the largest and most crucial airports in Europe, serving more than 71 million passengers per year. The presence of JetBlue at Schiphol is not only an extension of the airline's international reach but also offers the opportunity to increase its customer base in the Netherlands and beyond.
Daily flights from Schiphol to Boston Logan International Airport start on September 21.
The new daily flights, starting on September 21, will depart from Schiphol at 11:35 AM and land in Boston at 14:00 PM local time. These will be operated with JetBlue's Airbus A321 Long Range (LR), equipped with 24 'Mint Suite®' seats and 114 'Core' seats. The airline is known for its spacious seating, free and high-speed Fly-Fi internet, live television and on-demand entertainment on every seat back, as well as excellent customer service.
JetBlue's sustainability efforts are also noteworthy. The airline has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040 and halving aircraft emissions from 2035 levels by 2019. This is in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. JetBlue advances these goals not only through operational efficiencies but also by partnering with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) suppliers and manufacturers in the US.
With this latest transatlantic expansion, JetBlue is nimbly responding to various market needs: from meeting demand for more overseas travel options from Boston and the Netherlands, offering competitive pricing to delivering a customer-focused, low-fare offering.
