Safe driving is also a profession these days. How often do we read it in the newspaper or hear it on the news, another person has been arrested who was behind the wheel without a valid driver's license. These may be drivers who have a medical indication, such as dementia, or who have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A driver was recently arrested who had been driving with an invalid driver's license for 16 years. We also often hear that another driver has been arrested who was behind the wheel with drugs. Not long ago, a driver was arrested after a crazy drive who used laughing gas behind the wheel. The driver caused dangerous traffic situations and eventually a collision. There has also recently been a serious bus accident on the E19 near Sint-Job-In-t-Goor in the direction of Breda in Belgium just before the Dutch border. 

The bus en route to Amsterdam had deviated from the track, hit a concrete guardrail on the right and then swerved to the left. The bus had also hit the guardrail there and then overturned. Unfortunately, this accident resulted in deaths and serious injuries. The driver was later found to be under the influence of drugs. Every month it gets CBR about 2.000 reports from the police about unsafe driving. Often alcohol or drugs are involved. Or is there a medical cause. According to the NOS, thousands of motorists are behind the wheel with an invalid driver's license. In 2021 alone, more than 10.000 driving licenses were declared invalid, according to the Rijksdienst voor het Wegverkeer (RDW). Of these, 4240 driving licenses were not handed in, which is 40 percent.
