Everyone has learned during the corona crisis to use the Internet to view Tiktok working use remotely or delivery services. Didi Chuxing also resumed all services in Wuhan and the reset button was pressed for the Chinese taxi sector. Didi Chuxing chairman Jean Liu Qing announced that her company was out of the red for the first time. The company has neither plans for an IPO nor plans to fire personnel such as competitor Uber.

Ride volume has risen again at lightning speed to 60 to 70% of the Covid-19 levels. According to Analysys figures, the Chinese market for ordering vehicles via platforms improved by 17% in March, especially in top cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. Didi has a presence in several countries and is on the way to processing 100 million orders per day.

The Beijing-based company also indicated that it will continue to apply rigorous hygiene protocols and other safeguards to all activities in China and abroad, as countries around the world are still trying to stem the spread of Covid-19. In February, the company launched a nationwide program to install protective dividers between the driver and passenger seats in cars.

Chinese Uber acquired in 2016

Didi Chuxing (“DiDi”) is a world-leading mobile transport platform. The company offers a full range of app-based transportation options for users around the world, including taxis, private cars, ride sharing, bike sharing, and food delivery. Headquartered in Beijing, it was founded by Cheng Wei, who used to work for Alibaba.

The company was created from the merger of rival companies Didi Dache and Kuaidi Dache (backed by the two largest Chinese internet companies, Tencent and Alibaba, respectively), and was initially valued (as of June 2016) at approximately US $ 28 billion. DiDi acquired Chinese Uber in 2016. DiDi operates in a few countries outside of China, such as the ride delivery services in Brazil, Mexico and Australia, and provides taxi services in Japan through a joint venture. Recently, the company has also been involved in other mobility areas such as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI).
