After months of adjusted timetables and extreme rest in the trains due to the corona crisis, the day has finally come when the trains will start running again according to the full timetable. Yesterday the mouth mask obligation has already started and as of today the timetable has returned to normal.

However, it was no busier in the trains this morning than in recent weeks, the NS speaks of a quiet morning rush hour. NS employees found an exciting day today and looked a bit upset, they were afraid of many travelers and so crowded in the trains. Of course, all kinds of measures have been taken at stations and on the train.

Travelers are required to wear a face mask when boarding, for the time being they do not have to wear the face mask at the station or platform. The masks are for sale in the Kiosks at the stations. The trains can carry quite a few fewer passengers than usual. In the trains, green stickers are affixed to the seats where passengers are allowed to sit.

At stations, the stairs are split into two parts to prevent travelers from walking down and up together. Controllers and conductors do not have to actively pick travelers who do not comply with the corona regulations, but they do supervise. This is evident from the protocol drawn up by the public transport sector together with companies in public transport and central government.

De Telegraaf wrote yesterday: “Because it was Whit Monday, there were a lot fewer travelers. But most people who traveled knew they had to wear face masks. This is not always the case for foreign travelers. But it is announced in Dutch and English at the stations, so people still know that they have to buy a mask, ”said a spokeswoman for the NS.
