Since 1 June, a corona test appointment number has been launched by the GGD. This test is intended for anyone who has corona-related complaints. The phones were ringing off the hook yesterday. The call center was called approximately 323.000 times yesterday. As a result, the system became overloaded at some point. 

The national GGD is urging 'to only call complaints that are appropriate for the corona virus.' a test. That is why an urgent appeal to people without complaints or with general questions not to call the appointment number, '' says the national GGD today.

The request of the GGD is therefore only to call if you have complaints, this number is not intended for questions about corona. There is another phone number for that. The call center is available seven days a week to schedule a corona test from 8:00 am to 20.00:0800 pm on toll-free number 1202-1146. Already XNUMX people were immediately tested for corona.

The aim of the new method is to test as many people with corona-related complaints as possible, if they have the corona virus in order to detect the people in their environment faster. For example, the Cabinet is trying to prevent a second wave of corona infections. 

The corona tests are taken at one of the eighty test streets in the Netherlands. You drive in there with your car, you open your window and then a sample is taken from your mucous membranes with a cotton swab in your throat and nose. You are ready in a few seconds and then drive out again. The sample is sent to the laboratory. You will receive the result of the corona test within 48 hours.
